Welcome to Uniguard Building Products

During the California gold rush (1848-1855) California needed temporary housing and the temp roof they used was cold asphalt saturated paper. Simply put, they coated rolls of paper in asphalt and nailed it to the roof. The roofs didn’t last long and were tinder boxes when they came to fire.

Fast forward 150 years later and some are still using a version of asphalt saturated felt for their roofs. Asphalt felt is NOT warranted in any way and is NOT fire safe. It also should not be exposed to UV sunlight for any longer than 60 days.

The founders at Uniguard understand how a roofing system goes together, and it starts with the underlayment. Bad underlayment, bad roof. Old asphalt saturated felts have no UV properties, and they are NOT fire safe, in addition they are heavy and somewhat slippery for workmen to walk on.

Uniguard UL Fire Safe 30 is warranted up to six months of UV exposure, it is fire tested and rated by Intertek testing labs (see our approvals) It is lightweight, will not tear and is safer for the workmen to walk on. No need for two layers of asphalt saturated felt or the need for expensive heavy #72 lb cap sheet.

Our underlayments can save as much as 10% off of your next roofing project and you get a better product. Contact us
